DF RULES from 2005 onwards
The hidden transmitter would be on one band per evening. i.e. 3 evenings on
1.960MHz and 3 evenings on 145.425MHz making up the six sessions on a Tuesday.
There may be an additional session on a Sunday afternoon to be followed by
a barbecue or picnic.
The voice transmission at the end of the session to indicate the meeting
place would be on 145.425MHz. If that frequency is occupied, then 145.450MHz
would be used as first alternative and 145.475MHz as second alternative.
The area for the DF would cover no more than a 6 mile radius from the
designated starting point which for this year would be the layby on the
A6006 at NGR 454000 324600 (N 52 49 01 W 1 11 58). It is recommended that
Ordnance Survey Landranger map OS129 1:50,000 be used.
The start time would be 2000 hours British Summer Time and the event would
terminate at 2130 or earlier depending on the success of the participants.
There would be no communication between the hidden station and the
participants prior to 2130 except in exceptional circumstances.
A list of participants at the start point at 2000 hours would be
passed to the hidden station on S17 145.425 by anyone of the participants.
The hidden station would briefly acknowledge this list. There will be no team
entries. Where there is more than one person in a car, then the occupants will
decide which on of them is the entrant.
The hidden station would transmit a sequence of 2 minutes on and 8 minutes
off starting on the hour.
Points would be allocated as follows. The first participant to find the hidden
station scores 3 points. Second place scores 2 points, third place gets 1 point.
The winner of the series would be awarded the annual trophy and retain it for
the following 12 months.
